Let me tell you it is not as easy as that, first you have to phone a regional office where some uninterested telephonist says she is unable to help you and refers you to yet another uninterested telephonist who tells you that the person you need is not there and to call back later.
So there you are just having confronted your manager as to why you and your non unionsed colleagues are not getting a pay rise this year and telling him you will find out from the union whether or not the company has to by law pay at least a rise of inflation and telling him you will get staight back to him following your phone call.

So after the thought that the humiliation to go back to the manager becomes to much to bear I ring the union again telling them I am not happy etc. I am then told to wait while they try and get someone which they do.
To be told as I expected that there is nothing legally binding to make the tight arse company give you a pay rise at all.
But if I liked I could get up a petition demanding a pay rise and handing it to the company and at the same time recruiting my fellow colleagues into the union. If then the company refused to pay up then I could expect representation. WHAT AT MY UNFAIR DISMISSAL TRIBUNAL!
